The Rings of Power expands The Lord of the Rings universe and brings back an actor from the very beginning to do so. Jed Brophy has already appeared in all of the Middle-earth stories.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power takes us into the Second Age of Middle-earth and tells of an ominous threat that looms over the world created by Tolkien. As Galadriel and co. attempt to stop the forces of evil, a very special actor returns, Jed Brophy.

Even if the name doesn't mean anything to you, there's a very good chance you've encountered Brophy before in Middle Earth. The New Zealand actor has appeared in all three Lord of the Rings films and also returned for The Hobbit trilogy. Now he's also starring in The Rings of Power.

All Middle-earth appearances of Jed Brophy at a glance

In The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship, Brophy appears briefly in the Elven city of Rivendell. He embodies an unnamed Elf in the background.

In addition, he plays one of the Ringwraiths, who get dangerously close to Frodo. There was no credit in the credits for this, however.

In the Extended Cut of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Brophy rides into battle for Rohan. This time he's even given a name: Mad Max.

In addition, Brophy brings two orcs to life in The Two Towers. On one side would be the warrior rider Sharku, on the other side the hungry Snaga.

Another orc was brought to life by Brophy in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Here he meets Frodo and Sam in Mordor. He also plays the weapons master of the Witch-King of Angmar.

If Brophy constantly changed roles in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, he took on a recurring role in the Hobbit films. In both An Unexpected Journey, Smaug's Desolation and The Battle of the Five Armies, he appears as Zweg Nori.

The 3rd installment of The Rings of Power introduces us to Brophy as the fearsome orc Vrath. Check out our extensive list of all Brophy's appearances here.

No other actor can draw on so much mid-earth experience. Brophy proves that you can leave a lasting impression even in the shortest screentime in a major blockbuster production. He did this best with his orc double in the Two Towers - absolute nightmare material!

Sharku and Snaga in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

As Sharku, he drags Aragon into the abyss with his warg before taking his own rattling leave of the living. A hopeless, uncomfortable scene: Sharku becomes the ugly face of Aragon's supposed death - and this after a battle that has already claimed too many victims anyway due to the bloodlust of evil.

More news: Iron Man movie failed for an incredibly stupid reason.

The only thing scarier is Snaga's wide eyes when he identifies Mary and Pippin as a midnight snack at the beginning of the film. "Why can't we have some meats?" screeches Brophy's orc in a memorable scene, before baring his teeth and staring with a piercing gaze at the bound hobbits.

Narrative clarity, attention to detail and effort expended can already be seen in episodes 1 and 2. The potential for another Middle Earth triumph after Peter Jackson's revered Lord of the Rings trilogy is undoubtedly there.
