That's what Blue Beetle is about

The little-known superhero Blue Beetle will make his DCU debut in a film of the same name. Production has been running since 2018 and will start this summer, after it was unclear in the meantime whether the film would make the jump to the DCU. Although Blue Beetle has been part of the comic universe since 1939, even DC fans may not have heard of this superhero.

The first trailer was recently released, showing the main character Jaime Reyes in action for the first time. Reyes gets his superpowers from a blue scarab that attaches to his spine, giving him a striking pair of high-tech blue armor. At first, Reyes is euphoric about his newfound powers, but that excitement quickly fades when he realizes there are more people out to get the mysterious scarab. Opponents include main antagonist Victoria Kord and Conrad Carapax.

It remains to be seen how the new superhero and his Origin story will be received by audiences. Fans and viewers are excited to see what to expect from the Blue Beetle movie. With the cinema release on August 17, 2023, the anticipation is high and everyone is excited to see how this previously unknown superhero will fare in the DCU.
