James Gunn, the director of 'The Suicide Squad' and the upcoming 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3', is known for his active presence on social media and his willingness to comment and debunk rumours. In the past he has clarified several times when false information about his projects has been spread. However, he recently hinted that he may have stopped fighting rumors and instead let fans draw their own conclusions.
While this is certainly an understandable decision, as rumors are often difficult to root out and can fuel additional speculation, there is one habit of DC that James Gunn should end immediately - and that is flooding fans with trailers and teasers.< /p>
Over the past few years, DC has followed a trend of releasing numerous trailers, teasers, TV spots and clips for their films. Too much information is often revealed that anticipates the plot or spoils important surprises. It can detract from the film's appeal and overwhelm audiences.
James Gunn has already shown that he is a master of marketing. His work on Guardians of the Galaxy proved that sometimes less is more. By withholding information and skilfully building up anticipation, the hype surrounding a film can be increased.
It would be desirable if James Gunn would apply this approach to his future DC projects. Instead of inundating viewers with countless trailers, he could focus on high-quality and targeted marketing campaigns that keep the excitement going and get audiences to actually experience the film in theaters.
By breaking the DC habit of releasing too many trailers, James Gunn could bring more mystery and value to the films. It would encourage viewers to venture into the unknown and bring back the joy of exploring the film.
